Next Up: Tailoring
You know when you watch episodes of Project Runway and Nina Garcia comments on what excellent tailoring skills that a specific contestant possesses because they nailed a stellar blazer? Well, that's going to be this time next week. My Fall class this semester is Tailoring... and I have heard that we will create a blazer, in and out. I will be 100% perfectly honest with you that I am severely scared. I have quickly realized that I am more a "draper" if you will. I like to play around with fabric on the form and move and shake and all that jazz. I think this is one reason why I disliked pattern drafting. While I learned a lot, I felt like it was too rigid for my creative juices. In any event, this Fall should prove to be interesting and I will surely keep you all updated on my progress or my whining, either or. I think that I will end up with a somewhat wearable blazer or a somewhat frustrating complex in regard to my abilities. Let's see how the cookie crumbles.

Sometimes You Have to Live... and the Blog Suffers for it.
So you may or may not have noticed, based on how often you visit ol' Prim and Propah, that my blog posts have been sparse for the past couple weeks. It's not that I don't want to blog... gosh, I feel guilty if I even stop to think about it... it's just that I have been really busy doing things that don't involve blogging, or not directly anyhow. I've been busy living. I could give you excuses or catch you up on everything I could/should/would/have been doing, but I almost don't need to document every little thing I do via a blog post. You can see some of my super fun wine/beer/sangria tasting Instagram pics from this past weekend or you can take a peek at my Twitter feed to see what all the flutter was about last night, while I was having drinks and a ball with the Boston Bloggers peeps. Oh and guess what? My handbag class finished this week with a bang! or rather with pocket tutorials, but hey, that is exciting to me! I have some really cool blog post ideas percolating in this head and lots of DIYs I need to work on/document, so be on the lookout for some cool things coming... but until then, let's just do some cool things with our free time, because life is for the living!

Handbag Design, a New Direction
I am sure if you follow me at all on Instagram, you have seen me post pictures of my handbags from the course I am taking, in a variety of different phases, from start to finish. I am just now going to put this out there... I think I have found my direction. I am enjoying this course immensely and am learning so quickly by actually putting these bags together with my instructor, a seasoned handbag veteran. There is also something to be said about finishing a handbag, with fixings, to make you feel really accomplished... I am talking so accomplished that I don't even complain to my husband about Red Sox traffic... that means I am really enjoying myself ;-)
I can't wait to share with you the journey that I am going to embark on, and don't surprised if I ask for your opinions once in awhile. From adding feet to a structured tote to the clutch I am currently working on, I can't wait to possibly, maybe with a little hard work, take this handbag design thing in a new and exciting Prim and Propah direction!

Have you ever just felt the need to change direction?

Diamond Candles, Combining Two of My Favorite Things
So I'm sure you remember that I have quite the affinity for candles, so much so that I tried my hand at making my own last month, with varying degrees of success in multiple batches. After that post went live, I was contacted by Diamond Candles to do a review and giveaway of their all natural soy candles. My first instinct was to say no, because I guess, who wants to read someone's review of a candle? Well, I know that isn't high on my list... but then I checked out their site. Not only do Diamond Candles come in a wide variety of sassy scents (my faves are the fruity ones) but, now here's the fun part, each candle has a ring tucked into it's wax for a big reveal. Apparently, they range in value from $10-$5000... So I thought, why not give 'er a try?

Color WoW for my Color Now
Just recently I have made some adjustments to the ol' hairstyle. Not only did I choose a super new cut (thanks to all my fabulous readers) but I also brought my hair back from the lavender (which then turned gray) to bright blonde just in time to finish my Summer in style! What's the worst thing that can happen when you spend good money on a fresh color? When it doesn't last.(single tear falls down our collective cheeks). Color Wow was nice enough to share lots of fun, but more importantly, useful products with me! From Shampoos and Conditioners to styling products, I am not as concerned with my color losing it's brightness as fast.

Before and After, the Sun Room Bistro Set
While the cat's away, the mice will play... isn't that the saying? Well, the man was away on business for over a week+ and Mama was certainly busy. While he was gone, I took it upon myself to really get our home together! I had a million ideas of what I wanted to do, how our home would be complete in just one week... well, I was sadly mistaken in my thinking I would get everything done but I did, however, complete something that I am really proud of. You might have remembered me tweeting a picture last week of a set of chairs and a small table suitable for a sun room that a woman was selling on Craigslist. Not only did I haggle (thank you, Lara Spencer) her down in price buuuuut it also fit in my car without having to bungee cord something to my roof. It was success from the very beginning! Want to see what became of it? Check it after the jump.
