A DIY: A "Festival" Flower Bun Band

Oooooh I am no festival fashionista and I don't pretend to be. Though I do not actively participate, I do like to see all my fellow bloggers posts on what they would wear, what they are wearing (if they are lucky enough to attend the upcoming Coachella weekend 2) and their favorite looks from those who did attend. Something that I am hip and clever enough to pick up on is that lots of festival going women like to incorporate floral aspects into their looks. Whether it is reminiscent of the hippies from Woodstock or just a new romantic way music lovers express themselves, it is something I see as a constant in festival fashion. Sooooo now I get to why I am doing this DIY. I was shopping online, at the ever cool and hip River Island and happened to see the bun top flower hair bands. As someone who has been wearing their hair in a bun a lot lately, this immediately spoke to me. I thought instantly that this was something I could do on my own with things I already had at home... and I was right.
There are so few "ingredients" that are needed to pull one of these together in a jiffy. I grabbed some faux flowers (girl, you know I had some leftover from these candles and some extras in my kit from the dollar store), some elastic (from my sewing kit), a needle, thread (also from my sewing kit) and some Gorilla Super glue (stored separately from my sewing kit). I wanted to have all these on hand for the process, which was a pretty simple one, if not a touch time consuming to achieve the exact look.

I have thick hair so cut a piece of elastic about twice as long as a regular hair elastic. I then took the flowers and arranged them how I would want them to be placed on the bun band.... then it was just hand sewing the petal portion onto the elastic. When I reached the end. I secured the ends together, once again by hand sewing. Once that was done, I added the finishing touches, which was to glue the flower centers in place; plastic backing is impossible to hand sew ;-). I actually think it came out cute and once I get my purple re-done next week, it will pop, don't you think?

What do you think of my end result?
