My Dream Wedding Shoes... and How I Changed my Mind

You guys can probably remember me talking about some special Valentino shoes. Last time I talked to you guys about them, I told you that I wasn't going to get them. The time before that, I basically expressed my obsession and how I had to have the shoes, no ifs ands or buts about it. Needless to say, it has been a tumultuous ride for me and these Valentino dream machines. So I know what you are thinking... well? Did you get the stupid shoes? Well, yes I did.

I wasn't going to get the shoes. At the end of the day, they were just too expensive. A couple of weeks ago, I was sitting at my desk at work, just thinking about these shoes. Now before you start thinking about how crazy I am, for being really attached to shoes, I just want to express to you how visually appealing these shoes are to my eyes and brain. I, literally, have thought about them once a week since my decision a few months back, the decision to find different wedding shoes. So anyway, I emailed Brendan at Valentino and asked him if the shoes were perchance, still waiting for me... and they were. Not only were they in the boutique, but Brendan let me know that they had been marked down again and would be 60% off retail. Jigga what?

I basically started tearing up, got in my car and drove to the Boston Valentino boutique. For one, I should have dressed a little bit nicer to go into Valentino. Yoga pants may be comfortable but when a suited guard holds the door for you, you can really take a hard look at yourself and your appearance but I digress. When I saw the booties in person, the shoes that is, I fell in love hard. Would they fit on my feet? When something is meant to be, like these shoes were meant to be, of course they fit. In the end, I got my dream wedding shoes and at a fantastic discount... it turns out that my indecisiveness and the man's frugality contributed to the stars aligning and these shoes being a part of our big day this coming January. I love shoes.

It's a girl's prerogative to change her mind, am I right?

  2. love that you changed your mind AND they were 60% off - total score!!! waiting it out proved to be financially a good thing and I bet you are even more invested in these shoes as a prized possession being you waited so long and thought of them so often. You'll enjoy them on your wedding and many years after!

I am so glad you waited - with designer clothing, as long as no one A-list has worn them repeatedly, they do not often sell out of all sizes. You are so lucky and I am happy for you!
