Meryl Streep's Timeless Beauty and Vogue Cover

Along the same vein of having good role models for young girls in this country (please see yesterday's post re: Kelly Clarkson), can we talk about Meryl Streep? At the Age of 62, she snags her first Vogue cover and is their oldest cover girl (woman) in the magazine's history. Why a role model you ask? Well, people... isn't Meryl one of the best actresses of our time? YES. Doesn't she have the most amazing roles under her belt? YES. Hasn't she done it all with grace and style? YES. And at 62, man is she still beautiful or what.

She has always impressed me and I am sure will continue to do so. She is already getting raves in regard to "The Iron Lady" and there is Oscar buzz around her performance. But one of the things that I LOVE most about her is that she doesn't and hasn't chosen her roles based on if she will get critical acclaim or not... Some of my favorite Meryl Streep movies are appreciated by so many yet may not have won an Academy Award (or they may have too). My faves you ask? Mamma Mia, The Devil Wears Prada, Julie and Julia and Death Becomes Her.

What do you think about Meryl? Do you think she has timeless beauty and class or do you totally disagree with me?

  1. I was so happy to see Meryl on the cover of Vogue! I am normally not a fan of celebrities on fashion magazine covers, but she is not just a celebrity - she is  one of the most amazing actresses ever and has entertained me more than any other actor!
Salute to Vogue for such unusual but very welcome cover - I was just getting dead bored with all these talentless Alexas and Kims on every magazine!

I did a post on this recently! I agree 100% Meryl has to be one of the most beautiful women. PERIOD. She looks divine at her age, unlike some of her peers who tried to hard to hold on to youth and would up with horrifying plastic surgery. She is an inspiration and I hope this year Vogue America will start putting more real women on the cover!
